At Happy Times Child Care Initiative, we believe that all children are a gift and therefore loved by God throughout the scripture, we see God’s heart for the fatherless and James 1:27 makes it very clear the mandate to care for orphaned children to his glory. We believe that one of the responsibilities of God’s people is to care for widows, orphans and those who have been

Marginalized by the economic and social systems of the world. It is on that end that we come alongside the body of Christ to support the children. Mark and Moses seen above are just the few of more than over 50 children being cared at Happy Times Home. They need love, care, compassion along with good accountability and Transparency

- GET INVOLVED -

Sponsorship Opportunities

For only $25 per month combined with others our organization is able to give a child more than the basic necessities to survive, but skills and opportunities to thrive as they transition to adulthood.

“When my parents were at the verge of giving up, I was blessed with second chance of having a sponsor. I really want to thank the founder Director for and others for having given me a chance to be in school”                     -Mariam, one of our sponsored girls

Volunteering Opportunities

Happy Times Childcare Initiatives partners with the global student organization AIESEC, which allows young students to volunteer with us in diverse projects based on the sustainable development goals.

Our current volunteers are focusing on the SDGs “Quality Education”, “13 Climate Action”, “Gender Equality” and “Partnerships for the Goals”.

- SKILL ENHANCEMENT -

| Agriculture Projects

Xun Kuanga a Chinese philosopher who lived 312-230 BC once said “Not having heard something is as good as having heard it; having heard it is not as good as having seen it; having seen it is not as good as knowing it; knowing is not as good as putting it into practice” this quotation today has been summarized as tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”

This is exactly what is happening at Happy Times Child Care Initiative in Katikamu, Wobulenzi in Luwero District. Here we emphasize on growing of Vegetables gardens to boast nutrition of our young children and the children are being taught to the science knowledge into practice.

The initiative started during COVID 19 when the organization devised strategies to prevent nutrition disorders. It’s that time that the founder Director challenged the teachers and social workers to transform the science into more practical and interesting to the children. It’s upon this time that the Director purchased seeds of different vegetables that included egg plants, tomatoes and onion.

During the last holidays the Agriculture coordinator mobilized all children who have planted the seedlings.  The thirteen year old Ruth a senior one student was among the children. “These plants are called egg plants. I was part of planting them said a smiling Ruth as she pointed at the plantation in the garden at the school compound. Before planting she explained, we had to put the seedlings in a nursery bed we later transplanted it to where they are now.

The activity is making it easier for the children to translate science knowledge into practice by learning skills in agriculture as well like spraying, Mulching and this makes them more prepared to write examinations and because it is related to what they are doing Tr Catherine the Deputy head teacher had this to say.

| Infrastructure Project

One of our skilling projects is the infrastructure project. While contributing to the construction of our multipurpose building, young adults learn how to create and lay bricks and pavers.

The professionals working here are offered a fair pay for their expertise and efforts towards teaching these skills.

- JUNIOR SCHOOL UPDATES -

| Academic Term

In a special ways, management of HTJS congratulates it’s members for having completed the second term holiday 2023. Successfully and thank GOD the Almighty that over 96% of our learners have reported back to school during the first week of reporting and commit to make follow up for the remaining 6% so that we have 100% attendance. Primary seven pupils continue to be prepared for their Primary leaving examinations and we ask God who provides to guide them.

We envisage that Third term is a promotional term and urge all stakeholders to remain focused to achieve excellence.  Therefore, we want at the same time  to remind all guardians that the school dues MUST  be paid on time through a convenient paying system (i.e.) using school pay code provided to you so as to enable our children attend classes without inconveniences.

| Staff Capacitiy Building

The only way to ensure we stick to the SDG Quality Education is to ensure our staff is up to date in all relevant topics, before the beginning of the term our staff members where taken through financial literacy sessions. The school has a vibrant quality Assurance team which ensure planning is done and right training organized as per the gaps existing. For the future we have planned to hold sessions and seminars on team management and task priorization for the senior teachers.
