65% of the children who complete their primary school at HTCI don’t continue with secondary education, indicating that many children marry at a very young age and that boys do cheap labour like car washing just to make ends meet. Many of these children end up being drug abusers and criminals.

Children from within community travel long distances to access services like secondary education, and the available affordable secondary schools have many children with a lot of congestion in classes which makes it hard for children to learn. The schools are also not providing any additional skills training, so when the children drop out of schools, they have no skill to help them engage in gainful employment.

The HTCI plan to establish a secondary school in close proximity to the community will reduce the school dropout rate, improve the quality of education, and help children improve their performance. With a vocational school, there will be an opportunity for out-of-school children to acquire a skill.
